LLM SEO tools check what ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and other AI answers say about your site, and which pages they cite. The cheapest one that tracks both ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews is Otterly.AI at $29 a month for 15 prompts. If you want your AI agent to read the results too, Writesonic includes an MCP server from $79 a month billed yearly. For help writing pages that AI answers cite, Frase starts at $39 a month billed yearly. Rillow, which we make, is last in its group, because it only sees Google's AI Overviews.

By the Rillow team, November 1, 2026. We make Rillow, one of the tools here, and ranked it by the same rules as the others. There are no affiliate links. We read each price on the vendor's own page: Otterly.AI, LLMrefs, Peec AI and Profound on November 1, 2026, and the others on October 22, 2026.

What an LLM SEO tool does

An LLM is the language model behind an AI assistant, like the one in ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. LLM SEO means getting those assistants, and Google's AI Overviews, to name your product and link to your pages when people ask about your topic. Our guide to LLM SEO covers how to write pages they cite.

The tools on this list do one of two jobs:

  • Tracking: you save prompts, like "best invoice app for freelancers", and the tool asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google every day, then reports whether the answer names you and which sites it cites.
  • Writing and research: the tool helps you or your agent write pages that answer those prompts, using what ranks and what AI answers cite today.

A prompt is the question someone types into an assistant. Tracking tools sell plans by the number of prompts they check, so the prompt count matters as much as the price.

How we ranked them

We split the tools by their main job, then ranked each group by things you can check on the vendor's site:

  1. Tracking tools are ranked by the monthly price of the cheapest plan that tracks both ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews. When two prices tie, a plan with an MCP server ranks first. An MCP server is how Claude Code, Codex or Cursor reads a tool's data, and our list of the best SEO MCP servers compares 12 of them.
  2. Writing and research tools are ranked by how many AI answers they can check, then by price.

The numbers run through both groups, so they rank tools within a group, not across groups.

Best LLM SEO tools for tracking AI answers

1. Otterly.AI: cheapest tracking of ChatGPT and AI Overviews

Otterly.AI checks your prompts in Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot on every plan, and reports which brands and pages each answer mentions. It also audits your pages for AI search.

  • Lite is $29 a month for 15 prompts and 1,000 page audits a month. Standard is $189 a month for 100 prompts, and Premium is $489 for 400. Paying yearly lowers them to $25, $160 and $422 a month.
  • Google AI Mode and Gemini cost $9 a month each on Lite, and Claude costs $29 a month more.
  • Standard includes 2,000 API requests and 2,000 MCP requests a month, and Premium 5,000 of each, by its help center. Lite has neither.
  • The free trial needs no card. The pricing page doesn't say how long it lasts.

15 prompts covers your brand name and a dozen buying questions, which is enough to see whether AI answers mention you at all. Agent access starts at $189.

Best for founders who want to watch a handful of prompts for the lowest price.

2. Writesonic: cheapest tracking your agent can read

Writesonic tracks prompts in AI answers every day, and its AI agent rewrites pages for AI search. It also writes articles and runs site audits.

  • Starter is $79 a month billed yearly, with 50 prompts tracked daily, 15 AI articles a month and 1 project. The pricing page doesn't show a monthly price.
  • Starter tracks ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews. Claude is tracked only on Enterprise.
  • Its MCP server works on any paid plan, with setup for claude.ai, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor.
  • A 7-day trial needs no card.

Best for founders who work in Claude Code or Codex and want their agent to read daily AI answer data.

3. LLMrefs: the most prompts for the price

LLMrefs tracks rankings in AI answers, your share of voice against competitors, and the pages each answer cites. It covers ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Grok, Copilot, Meta AI and DeepSeek.

  • One plan, All in One, is $79 a month for 500 prompts. The page marks the price "Limited time only".
  • It exports to CSV and has an API. We found no MCP server.
  • A 7-day free trial, and a free account without a card.

Best for teams that want to track many prompts across many AI answers without an agent connection.

4. Peec AI: tracking with MCP on every plan

Peec AI tracks your prompts in three AI answers you choose from ChatGPT, Google's AI Mode and AI Overviews, Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI.

  • Starter is $95 a month for 50 prompts, Pro $245 for 150 and Advanced $495 for 350. Yearly billing takes 15% off.
  • Every plan includes an MCP server. The API starts on Pro.
  • The pricing page has a free trial button but doesn't say how long it lasts.

Three answer engines per plan is the limit to plan around. ChatGPT and AI Overviews leave one more choice.

Best for small teams that want agent access from the first plan.

5. Ahrefs: AI tracking next to backlinks

Ahrefs tracks AI answers with Brand Radar, next to its keyword, backlink and rank tracking tools.

  • Lite is $129 a month and includes custom prompts. Ahrefs' own pages disagree on how many: the pricing page says 150 checks on AI prompts for Lite, and the Brand Radar page says 5 prompts a day.
  • Brand Radar covers Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. Its full AI visibility index costs from $199 a month for one AI platform, or $699 for all of them.
  • The MCP server works from Lite.
  • There is no trial.

Best for SEOs who already pay for Ahrefs' backlink data.

6. Semrush: AI tracking inside a full suite

Semrush bundles its SEO tools with AI visibility tracking in Semrush One. Our list of Semrush alternatives covers cheaper options.

  • Semrush One Starter is $199 a month, or $165.17 billed yearly, with 50 prompts tracked daily across Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini.
  • MCP is included from Starter, with 50,000 API units.
  • A 7-day trial and a free plan.

Best for marketing teams that want SEO data and AI tracking in one paid suite.

7. Profound: AI tracking for large companies

Profound sells AI tracking to enterprises and agencies. Its pricing page lists no self-serve price.

  • The free trial runs 50 prompts daily for 7 days in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews.
  • Enterprise has custom pricing, tracks up to 9 AI answers (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google's AI Mode and AI Overviews, Gemini, Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude and Exa) and includes an API.

Best for large brands that want a sales call and custom prompt tracking.

Best LLM SEO tools for writing and research

8. Frase: best for writing pages AI answers cite

Frase researches a search, writes a brief and a draft, and scores the page for SEO and for AI search. It also tracks AI visibility in ChatGPT and Google AI.

  • Starter is $39 a month billed yearly, or $49 month to month, for 1 site and 10 articles a month.
  • Its MCP server works on every plan, including the 7-day trial.
  • The trial needs no card and includes 25 AI prompts.

Best for founders who want drafts checked against the pages that rank, plus some AI tracking.

9. OpenSEO: cheapest SEO data with AI visibility

OpenSEO is an open source SEO tool with keyword research, backlinks, rank tracking, site audits, AI visibility and prompt tracking. Its data comes from DataForSEO.

  • One plan from $10 a month, which includes $10 of usage.
  • Its MCP server works in Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT and Codex.
  • A trial with $0.50 of credits, or host it yourself for free under the MIT license.
  • OpenSEO doesn't say which AI answers it tracks.

Best for builders who want SEO data and some AI tracking for the lowest price.

10. Rillow: best if your agent writes the pages

We make Rillow. Rillow gives the agent you already use (Claude Code, claude.ai, Codex, Cursor or Gemini CLI) 19 tools through an MCP server at https://rillow.ai/mcp. When your agent looks up a search, Rillow returns Google's top 10 with the AI Overview and the sites it cites, so the agent can read what Google quotes before it writes. Rillow also builds writing briefs from the pages that rank and checks each page your agent publishes on Google every day.

  • Pay as you go, with no monthly fee. You start with 50 free credits for one site and no card. Then 100 credits cost $10, and they never expire. A post with a brief and one image uses about 2 credits.
  • Rillow doesn't track ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini, and it doesn't check saved prompts on a schedule. It sees Google's AI Overviews only, one search at a time.

Best for founders who build in Claude Code, Codex or Cursor and want their agent to research and write pages in the site's own code.

Free ways to check AI answers

You can see whether AI answers mention you before paying for any of these tools:

  • Ask the assistants yourself. Type your buying questions into ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity, signed out, and note who they name and link to.
  • Rillow's free AI Overview checker shows Google's AI Overview for one search with the sites it cites, your place in the top 10, and whether Claude names you, with no sign-up.
  • Ahrefs has a free AI visibility checker for ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google's AI Overviews.
  • Otterly.AI, Writesonic and Frase have trials without a card, and Profound's trial tracks 50 prompts for 7 days.

What tracking can't tell you

AI answers change from one hour to the next and from one person to another, so a tracking tool reports a sample, and one check is one moment. The tools ask each prompt from their own accounts and locations, which can differ from what your customers see. Use the trend across weeks, and read the pages the answers cite: they show what kind of page the assistants trust for that question.

Frequently asked questions

An LLM SEO tool checks how AI assistants and Google's AI Overviews answer questions about your topic: whether they name your brand, link to your pages, and which other sites they cite. Some also help you write pages that those answers are more likely to cite.

Otterly.AI's Lite plan is $29 a month for 15 prompts in Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Copilot. OpenSEO starts at $10 a month with AI visibility tracking, though it doesn't say which AI answers it covers. Rillow has no monthly fee, but it only sees Google's AI Overviews.

Writesonic, Peec AI, Frase, OpenSEO and Rillow include an MCP server on their first paid plan. Otterly.AI includes one from Standard, Ahrefs from Lite and Semrush from Starter. LLMrefs has an API. You add a remote MCP server to Claude Code with claude mcp add, or to Codex with codex mcp add.

It helps to check. Google's AI Overviews don't always cite the top result, and ChatGPT and Perplexity run their own searches. A free check of your main questions shows whether you have a gap before you pay for daily tracking.

Start with your brand name and the questions a buyer asks before choosing a product like yours, usually 10 to 50. Add more once you know which questions name your competitors and not you.
